Paul Standbridge is a skipper with more rights than most to sport a gold ring in his left ear – a privilege traditionally reserved to those who had rounded Cape Horn, something Paul has done no less than five times. Bearded, tattooed and weathered with the brush of life’s many experiences, he learnt to sail in Poole Harbour, England, when he was only four and has evolved into one of yachting’s natural leaders. When Paul gives an instruction, thousands of sea miles and hundreds of sailing conquests seem to roll out before him as he speaks.
